A Prayer for 2018

Passage: Ephesians 3:14-21

Make a resolution or following Jesus more closely this year

Ephesians 3:14-21 

  1. The apostle Paul prays that we will be empowered with inner strength that comes from the Holy Spirit (14-16) from the first two AA steps 
    1. Admit that we were powerless over alcohol  
    2. We came to believe a power greater than us could restore us to sanity 
  2. The apostle Paul prays that we will how strong by understanding the width, height and depth of Gods love for us (17-18) 
    1. Marriage betrayal or finance makes life difficult  
    2. Julie my child why do you run … I fail you constantly. I long to shelter like a hen covers her chicks  
    3. Love is unconditional- knows no bounds 
  3. The apostle Paul prays that we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God (19) 
    1. Forgiveness is based on dealing with the consequences in love and compassion without judgement  
    2. God does not want perfection and wants perfection  
    3. Leads us to a place of strength and maturity  
  4. Implications  
    1. Make growing in Godliness one of your New Years resolution  
    2. Read the Bible daily so you are reminded    of how great Gods love is for you. It’s even more powerful in a group as you serve. Living in singularity is stunting  
    3. Be aware of your roots in Gods love and the presence of Jesu
